	About 15 minutes into our drive to Forster, we took our driver-revival break at the Australian Reptile Park. Dad had fun tormenting plaster crocs.
Mum ran away from all the nasty looking reptiles - including those behind glass windows.

An exciting new article was published in the JACS website overnight: "Compositional Dependence of Negative Thermal Expansion in the Prussian Blue Analogues M^IIPt^IV(CN)₆ (M = Mn, Fe, Co, Ni, Cu, Zn, Cd)"
It was a struggle, but it made it in the end. And if I ever review papers in the future, I now know how to really annoy the authors.

Morton Arboretum

Its spring in Chicago and all the trees are covered in blossoms. At the arboretum you can get close to nature with all the modern conveniences - holding a hot cup of Starbucks, on trails never more than 1/4 mile from the nearest road.

About as far as possible from the coast, in a window of sad looking fish we found some tasty looking clams - perfect for clam chowder Rhode Island style.

Stretch SUV

Booking an airport transfer can be a bit of a gamble. Sometimes you end up in a white stretch SUV limo complete with sleazy music, a leather clad driver and leopard & zebra print cocktail napkins.

Geographically-Challenged Travel

Our Southwest flight from Midway to Long Island, NY landed 3 hours late - in Hartford, Connecticut 1 state up. Luckily it was a weather diversion rather than budget cuts in pilot navigation training.

Beamline Lingo
